Description of the house
Casa Quesi is situated in a private location near the town of Silves. The house and the terraces offer panoramic views over the colorful landscape. Hills with orange groves and cork oak plantations, beautiful sunsets and beautiful starry skies; impressive!
Virtually the entire house over there offers options to sit, linger or sunbathe on the large terraces. At the back of the house is a large covered terrace; an excellent spot in hot weather. Around the pool is enough place for sunbathing!
Two hammocks can be hung on the olive trees in the garden. You can take a stroll right through the orange groves!
The house has a spacious living room with open kitchen. Upstairs are three bedrooms, two of which open onto a roof terrace. The bedroom at the front of the house has air conditioning. Both upstairs and downstairs there is a bathroom with toilet and shower. The upstairs bathroom has a bathtub.
The energy of the house is generated by solar panels.
A 10 minutes drive away is the picturesque town of Silves. During the Moorish rule Silves was the capital of the Algarve; it was said that its beauty surpasses that of Lisbon. The main feature of this town is the Castelo dos Mouros, a Moorish castle. This castle is a wonderful example of Moorish architecture and well worth a visit!
From the hill you have a wonderful view of the surroundings: orange groves, cork oak plantations, the Monchique mountains, the Arade valley and in the distance the coast. The castle courtyard is landscaped garden which hosts regular concerts in the season.
Just a few steps away from the castle stands the Catholic cathedral, the Sé de Silves. Like the (red) castle this (white) cathedral is not to be missed during a visit to the city.
The center of Silves is lovely. There are a lot of historic buildings along the sometimes steep streets and for those who want to know more about the Moors, there is the Museu Arquelógica. After all the sightseeing it is good to relax on one of the quaint plazas, such as the Largo do Municipio, with views of the stork on the roof tops of the museum and where it is nice to sit in the shade. The town also has several good (fish) restaurants.
